Tips for Running a Successful Lemonade Stand:

• Location, location, location: Pick a high-traffic location. The more people that pass your stand, the more opportunity for sales.
• Weather: Choose a day thats warm but not a scorcher — you want your potential customers to be thirsty but you don’t want your kids and your ice to melt sitting in the sun waiting for customers.
• Create a delicious recipe: Try out a few different water, lemon, sugar ratios to perfect your signature recipe.
• Be unique: If you’re not the only stand on the block, beat out the competition by giving the customer a choice of flavors (offer the classic alongside a more original flavor like strawberry-basil, below). Consider selling a small treat alongside your beverages like homemade chocolate chip cookies, but keep them inexpensive to maximize your earnings.
• Appearance is everything: Create an attractive stand with lots of color and pizzaz to grab the customer’s attention.
• Set a price: Figure out what others in the neighborhood are charging and also what it costs to run your stand (building materials, ingredients etc…) then set a price that will enable you to cover those costs and still make a profit.
• Have fun: If you make this experience enjoyable for your kids, they will come away with a positive outlook on hard work and dedication and that in itself is priceless.
